6am repeat :: j // ‘get goin’, boy!’

6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day.  Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you.  I love you, dude.

Put on a hat, dear reader, and follow my lead. Push that cap — cowboy, trucker, straw, what have you — down snug on your head and q up the jam below. Now tip it. Push the bill down just slightly, tilt your head down, and look back up. That hat tip goes out to both Adam of songsfortheday and Harmon Drive, the latter with a twitter background featuring Willie and Kristofferson which pretty much means dude is now at the top of my list of Stellar Dudes Who Obviously Know Good Jams.

Have you missed a little Shakey Graves in your life? Welp now, this isn’t the same, no. But the vibe is there — something you haven’t really heard the likes of before yet something that will grab your attention and cause a serious devotion in your heart immediately. This is the dreaded “Oh Shit, Now I Have To Follow This Dude’s Jams Religiously, I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!” Syndrome. I suggest talking to your primary care physician about it. Or Bob Lefsetz, whichever you see first. Both are equally knowledgable about this condition.

The bit that this jam comes whence is entitled Cold Cold Nights and is a righteous little tidbit of auditory glory. At once an incredible and unexpectedly new sound and still yet, comfortable, we’ve got four songs here that fucking roll. And free? Yeah, that.

Go download that bitch.
