6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day.
Essentially, what I’ve done here at Folk Hive is not give enough play to the classics. As the child of a former hippy duo, there is a playlist of tunes that make up my soul and have since I was but a wee lass. Contrary to what it may seem we listen to more jams from circa ’74 than anything else in this house. We do so on a tiny suitcase record player I’ve had since I was 8 or so. It sits on top of the Hitachi turntable my great-granny Dorothy gave me — for the time being, it’s in recovery (it’s needle is broke) and for the record, it still has its original plastic covering stuck to the surfaces.
