Why, hello there Wild Feathers, you with your John Mellencampy / Black Crowes-ish / King Of Leon (before they started sucking) vibe! I like you!
Here’s the story: Someone I’m friends with on facebook liked this band the other day and bless my heart if I can’t remember who the hell it was. Since I can’t give props to an actual human for this solid, I’ll just give it to the internet.
The Wild Feathers have a couple stellar jams available for free via their facebook page (full circle post, this one). We suggest, if you’re into country rock with a rootsy vibe, you hit that up…

There is a certain roll to the music of Sean McMahon’s music that I cannot help but dig.
I stumbled upon this album the other day and will admit, I was not immediately smitten. But I was stricken enough to leave that tab open for going on 7 days now. Others have come and gone in that time — a FAQ on adding Spotify to a wordpress blog, an article on Though Catalog, other various momentary musical loves that faded in 15 minutes — but McMahon and his Western Union remained. Thankfully.
The melancholy of this album is affecting in the Midwest winter months but I’ve also found it to be equally as infatuating in the unseasonal warmth of a Saturday that pretends like it lives in Spring. So, you know, awesomeness.
(Also, free download. Seriously, I wasn’t lying. The goodness here knows no bounds, y’all.)

I know, I know, I fucking know, you guys. This is not usually up our alley and as such, maybe not up yours, but I tell you what, this jam from The 1975 is an ear worm.
We dig. We really, really dig.
The 1975 will release Music for Cars EP on 3 April via Dirty Hit Records.

Oh, Ye Gods of Hippy Tinged Weirdness Jams, do I love you so for gifting the masses with this tune from Cheek Mountain Thief? Yes. Yes, I do. ALL HAIL!

2013, meet this year’s Alabama Shakes.
When one encounters the perfect Americana band there is always a bit of gospel hidden there. The theme is not the same, granted, as what one hears in a church building but the uplifting spirit is still there. The words are different but the movement provided to your heart from that music is equal and just the same.
Yesterday The Lone Bellow released their debut album. It is gorgeous and perfect. NPR has the full stream. Below, listen to and snag stand out track “You Never Need Nobody”.

You intake what you’re able before its past, An experience here as well as there will last, A checkmate as you’re tipping back a glass…
Welp, piss. My new anthem is “welp, piss”.
I set out this morning in search of songs that detailed vulnerability and made me feel better about such things. I don’t know that this, this sweet little tune from The Native Sibling works, but I tell you, the calling to “intake what you’re able before it’s past” feels like it fits. I’m hazy this morning and maybe I’m wrong (I’m always wrong lately, it seems) but it feels good to hear that line sung to me as the sun begins to peek through the kitchen window, unfreezing the mist that crystallized on the leftover grass overnight.
Good morning. Say it enough, will it so. Good morning.

This is perfect. Utterly, astoundingly perfect. No exaggeration, my life is better for just having stumbled upon this song. The way it all intensifies at 2:45 or so just fucking slays with beauty. I’ll meet you anywhere at all…
