Victor Olston

I’ve been soundtracking life these last couple days and nights with but two jams, both given by a man who goes by Victor Olston.  I stumbled upon the cuts from what seems to be a forthcoming full album and while I cannot honestly declare that these jams were conducive to my tasks at hand (mowing, cleaning, eating, not getting depressed as fuck), they’ve been stuck in my brain nonetheless.

The chances that I’m moved by these two jams most likely has something to do with the fact that first I listened to Hunter’s Traps.  While the former album is by no means unworthy of your time, when I put the two together it’s amazing to see how this artist has grown and refined his sound between the two releases.  I love finding that, someone moving forward musically and what a giant step Olston has taken.  ‘Wars’ is one of the most moving songs I’ve heard this year, both lyrically and musically.

To say that I’m excited to see / hear where Olston goes with his Heritage, his full length debut is an understatement.  Download ‘Wars’ below and hit up Olston’s Bandcamp to grab ‘California’.
