6am repeat :: bombadil // ‘one more year’

6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day.  Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you.  I love you, dude.

Bombadil’s latest record All That The Rain Promises THAT NONE OF YOU FUCKERS THOUGHT TO TELL ME ABOUT is a musical mixture the most soul demolishing jams blended with lyrical romps through laundromats and ukulele tunes about being awkward. Which happens to be an awesome blend. Do you like me too?

What’s so great about Bombadil is that not a single track tells what’s coming next and the band is pulling it off — how one goes from ‘I Will Wait’ to ‘One Whole Year’ without throwing the listener for a curve from which they do not recover, I do not know but everything fits. And it fits really fucking charmingly, y’all. I hate to call an album I am digging so thoroughly adorable…but this thing is just that.

You need to buy this damn record.
