6am repeat :: some army // “we’ve been lucky”

6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day.  Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you.  I love you, dude

The slow burn of Some Army’s “We’ve Been Lucky” has been slaying me for the past 24 hours. I keep a notebook, the front cover bearing nothing but a year, and in it are my favorite lyrics and bits of words for specific 365 day periods. The shitstorm will lay out just took top billing in that notebook. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a more perfect lyric.

I became aware of Some Army via a fuzzpony mixtape which you can (and should) download here. That soft electric guitar, the rolling drum, that harmonica. Goodness.
