6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day. Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you. I love you, dude.
This weekend was spent gettin’ intimate with our local music scene. We went to a Glossary show but the highlight? Meeting and imbibing the drink with a bunch of righteously rad Missouri music people. More on that later but for now, this album. Fields on Fire from Wheels. It’s good. We’ve got it on repeat, obviously.
Yellow Springs, Ohio, has a population of 3,487 so I think it’s fair to assume that their music scene is similar to ours. The population of Springfield might be much larger but seriously, there’s on 3,487 people there that seem to know good music so I’m guessing we’re in the same boat here as Wheels, who hail from that fair Ohio town. At any rate, with two releases that debuted on Bandcamp this past month, Wheels is a band worth keeping your eye on. Shades of Americana and folk rock propel these sounds and we’re seriously digging what this band is throwing down. Listen and download below.
