6am repeat :: aaron embry // ‘moon of the daylite sky’

6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day.  Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you.  I love you, dude.

I got an email the other day. In that email was this song. It is perfect.

That Willie-esque guitar. Then those lyrics. It was you, you who put that magic in the moon of the daylit sky. Be still my broken heart, BE STILL.

Aaron Embry is better known as a member of the Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes clan but good Lord, he doesn’t even need that credential (or those he has that mention Elliot Smith and Emmylou Harris) to grab your attention. The man can stand on his own.

Tiny Prayers is due out 18 September. Get your head and your heart ready.
