6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day. Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you. I love you, dude.
The information that one is able to dig up about Cave Country seems to be as sparse as the music. But, for once, it’s nice to find a band that stands itself up without it — no flurry of pull quotes, no need for that self-promotion. The jams on Just A Little Coal do just fine without all that…
I’ll be damned if ‘Constant Arrival’ hasn’t been on my mind for days. I’ve listened to it over and over through headphones and then speakers, thinking that the difference between those sounds might be the cause of my inability to get a real take on the song. I love it, LOVE IT, but cannot tell you why. It’s just good. “I long to vanish in the deep forest,” is a sentiment we’ve all felt. The smart ones amongst us occasionally do just that. The stupider ones just play songs like this on repeat.
Shit. None of this makes sense. Just listen to the damn song. And buy that album.
