6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day. Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you. I love you, dude.
I am a bonafide asshole.
On 1 May this man, J. Tillman, under the moniker Father John Misty, released an album called Fear Fun. I’ll admit, I’d seen the ‘Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings’ and wasn’t feeling it so I moved on. This is where my being a dolt comes in because OH GOD, YOU GUYS. THIS ALBUM. I really hate to be that bandwagon jumper but in the 4:23 that it took me to watch this dude hilariously dance about in his semi-unbuttoned shirt and converse with Letterman about shoes, I had traveled to SubPop and bought this album. I swear, if I don’t get the pink vinyl because I waited too long it will all be true: My birth certificate will indeed be just an apology from the condom factory.
