6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day. Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you. I love you, dude.
I remember reading a pretty great article by Grayson Currin re: The Tender Fruit not too long ago and sadly, with my short attention span, it left my brain before I took the time back then to investigate. Just goes to show that as long as Mr. Currin’s not talking about fucking metal or talking shit on wicker, I should listen to what he says…
The whole of Flotsam and Krill is stunning — it reminiscent of an old record I had by Sarah Harmer with a dash of Patty Griffin thrown in. Couple that with the fact that is was produced by Phil Cook (of Megafaun) and Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) and you’re pretty much guaranteed a solid set of jams. Needless to say, it gets the highest of Folk Hive recommendations, ya’ll.
