6am Repeat is a recurring feature here at Folk Hive in which we stream the latest track that plays incessantly in the earbuds when we awake at that hour and imbibe massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes in preparation for the advancing day. Consider it your jam of the day — a sweet, sweet gift from me to you. I love you, dude.
Wrapping my head around a return from an internet hiatus, one that hath taken place at the farther away bookend of the best year of my life, is proving a challenge. Writing about anything other than love or small town bars or a very long staycation without my child that turned into the best kind of personal journey full of realization and like, gross hand-holding and shit, is just beyond me. I must ease myself back in. In the interest of writing and being present and allowing music to move me and influence what I’ll do this year, I HAVE TO FUCKING BUCK UP.
So, ya’ll: Let me jam to some repetitive banjo and wait for it to kick my brain’s ass into high/life gear. Also, BE MORE BOLD as the tune directs. Good advice your mother would second…
