Alexander :: TRUTH

[ED. NOTE: I do not, nor have I ever, listened to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.  I don’t know if this is good or bad — am I saving my ears or am I missing out on the Holy Grail of indie rock?  I don’t know.  And I’m okay with that.  All that to say, what I’m about to ramble on here over stands ON. IT’S. OWN.  Just read.]

I am listening with eyes closed.  I am whistling.  I am unconsciously writing stories in  my head while it bobs back and forth.  I am feeling every ounce of what it coming at me from speakers across the desk and from speakers in my ears.  I thought I had shaken my shadow but now I wonder otherwise.  There is the future and there is the past, mashed together in song and visions.

Songs are stories, yes, but not every song must contain some great novel within it to be great.  But those that do are better for it.

Your darkness is shining.

My darkness is shining.

I’ve loved and learned from quite a few songs this year already, many documented for posterity here.  But I tell you, this one might just be heads and tails above the rest.  Few songs can do what this one has done to me.  I’m moving and thinking at the same time, almost without thinking.  This is simply (new) folk at it’s finest.
